Juan Manuel Then is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher who is now signed with the Seattle Mariners organization. He was born on February 7, 2000.
The next year, in 2016, he became an international free agent and signed with the Seattle Mariners. On November 18, 2017, the New York Yankees acquired Nick Rumbelow from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for then Sears and J. P. Sears.
On the 15th of June, 2019, the Yankees made the deal with the Mariners to acquire Edwin Encarnación in exchange for Then. After the conclusion of the 2020 campaign, the Mariners reinstated Then to their 40-man roster.
It wasn’t long until the age of 20 that Juan Then became engaged in two major league deals. When he was 17 years old, he was signed by the Seattle Mariners and began his professional career with the Dominican Summer League Mariners.
On November 18th, the New York Yankees acquired him, along with J.P. Sears, a minor league pitcher, in exchange for Nick Rumbelow, a big-league pitcher, in a deal.
Juan went to the United States with the GCL Yankees East in 2018 for what would be his last season in the Yankees’ organization.
It’s hard to argue with his 2.70 earned run average and 42 strikeouts against 11 walks in 50 innings despite his 0-3 record. On June 15, 2019,
he was traded back to the Mariners in exchange for slugger Edwin Encarnación, who was leading the American League with 21 home runs at the time of the deal.
