John Paul Crawford is a shortstop for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball.
After spending his childhood in Lakewood, California, Brandon Crawford went on to attend Lakewood High School, where he received accolades for his athletic performance.
Crawford was also regarded as one of the best teenage baseball players in the entire country during this time. Crawford was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 16th overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft in 2013.
He began his career with the Phillies as an exceptional defensive infielder and was regarded as the organization’s top prospect for a significant portion of his rise through their minor league system.
In 2017, he was moved up to the major leagues and given the opportunity to play third base, which is his natural position. Before the start of the 2019 campaign, Crawford was sent to the Mariners in a trade.
Crawford signed a four-year, $4.85 million contract with the Mariners on March 22, 2022, avoiding salary arbitration. Crawford and the Mariners then agreed to a 5-year, $51 million contract extension on April 8, 2022.
