Due to a prior obligation, Depp was unable to appear in court on Wednesday to file a $50 million lawsuit against Heard, who wrote an opinion piece in the Washington Post in 2018 saying that she had become a public figure for domestic abuse.
Attorneys for Johnny Depp claim that the essay refers to the accusations she made against him during their divorce in 2016.
In the end, the jury found that Heard could not support her charges against Depp and that she was aware that her claims of abuse were fraudulent when she published her article in 2018.
Jurors found in favor of the prosecution and found that Heard intentionally committed the act of authoring her op-ed. He won $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive penalties in his defamation claim, according to the verdict.
