Nomar Mazara is a Dominican professional baseball right fielder for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, and Detroit Tigers.
It was only two weeks before his 21st birthday that Nomar became the major league’s youngest player when he made his Rangers debut on April 10, 2016.
His major league debut was marked with a home run and two singles against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pitcher Jered Weaver. The Rangers’ lone run in a 3-1 loss came from his single home run against the Angels’ veteran hurler, and he seemed to be the only one on the club who could handle him.
Shin-Soo Choo’s strained muscle put him on the disabled list, which led to his promotion from AAA, where he had been 6 for 12 before being called up.
The rookie of the month award for the American League went to him after he hit.333 in April, capping up a stellar first month for him. In May, despite a.283 batting average and 17 runs batted in, he was named the AL Rookie of the Month again.
