Jurickson Profar is a Curaçaoan professional baseball infielder and outfielder for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played for the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics.
Profar was a member of the Little League World Series teams in both the 2004 and 2005 editions. Pabao Little League from Willemstad, Curaçao defeated Conejo Valley East Little League from Thousand Oaks, California in the 2004 final game thanks to his assistance and guidance.
When his club made it back to the title game in 2005, he was instrumental in helping the squad defeat the Ewa Beach, Hawaii-based West Oahu Little League.
As of July 2, 2009, Profar had agreed to terms with the Texas Rangers. Profar’s favorite position was shortstop, but other teams wanted to sign him as a pitcher.
He played with the Spokane Indians in 2010 for his first professional season. He went 6-for-63 with four extra-base hits (four home runs) and 23 runs batted in (RBI).
Profar was listed by Baseball America as the Texas Rangers’ second-best prospect and the 74th-best prospect in the country prior to the 2011 season.
