Parker Michael Markel is a professional baseball pitcher from the United States who currently plays for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball.
Markel was born on September 15, 1990. (MLB). His past teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) were the Seattle Mariners and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Glendale, Arizona is the location of Markel’s high school education at Mountain Ridge. The Detroit Tigers selected him in the 32nd round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, but he did not sign with them.
He attended Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona in 2010. The Tampa Bay Rays selected him in the 39th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft, and he subsequently signed with the team.
Markel was a member of the Rays organization from the 2010 season all the way through the 2016 season. During his tenure with them,
he was a member of the Gulf Coast Rays, Hudson Valley Renegades, Bowling Green Hot Rods, Charlotte Stone Crabs, Montgomery Biscuits, and Durham Bulls. He also managed the Montgomery Biscuits.
In 2017, Markel submitted a release request to the Lotte Giants citing anxiety concerns as the reason for his departure. He did not play any more professional baseball in 2017 and instead spent some time working at a Lululemon shop and for a firm that specializes in hot air balloon rides.
In 2018, while participating in spring training with the Sioux City Explorers, Markel was hit in the head by a batted ball during live batting practice. As a result of this incident, he had a concussion and a perforated eardrum in his right ear.
