Frankie Montas

Frankie Montas is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Chicago White Sox.

While he returned to the field for one more start on September 25th, he was ineligible for the postseason because of his suspension. After the Coronavirus outbreak wiped out the first four months of the season in 2020, he never really got going.

Over the course of his first 11 outings, his record was just 3-5 with a whopping 5.60 ERA. His postseason debut came in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series against the Chicago White Sox on October 1st, when he pitched two innings of relief in a see-sawing game as the third of eight A’s pitchers.

Once again thrown into Game 4, he gave up five runs in three and a third innings and was credited with the loss, this time an 11-6 one against the Houston Astros.

Chris Bassitt, who had been Oakland’s ace, was hit by a batted ball in August and only returned in late September, by which point the team’s fate had already been decided. Bassitt’s replacement, Jake McGee, ended up being Oakland’s most reliable pitcher.
