AJ Puk is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Florida Gators.
The Oakland Athletics selected A.J. Puk, a pitcher from the University of Florida, in the sixth round of the 2016 amateur draft. He was one of a number of players considered as a possible target for the Philadelphia Phillies, who had the first-round pick in this year’s draft.
While Mickey Moniak was their final choice, A.J. still managed to score a lot of points. In his first ten professional starts, he went 0-4, 3.03 in 10 innings pitched for the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League.
Because the A’s wanted to keep his starts short, he was unable to pick up any victories despite tossing 32 2/3 innings. Aside from allowing just 23 hits and 10 walks while striking out 40 opponents in the process, his performance was impressive.
When he started the season with the Stockton Ports of the California League in 2017, he was 4-5, 3.69 with 11 starts in 14 games.
