Raimel Antonio Tapia Linarez is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. He was born on February 4, 1994, and is currently 28 years old.
Tapia was recruited by the Rockies in 2010 out of the Dominican Republic and made his big league debut in 2016 at the age of 22.
From 2019 to 2021, he was a daily starter with the Rockies for parts of six seasons. According to FanGraphs, Tapia hit.280/.325/.395 in 439 games with the team and had a career wRC+ of 78.
Tapia the 2016 season with the Hartford Yard Goats of the Class AAA Eastern League and was chosen to appear for the 2016 Al-Star future games. The Rockies later promoted him to the Albuquerque Isotopes of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League in August.
On March 24, 2022, Tapia was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Randal Grichuk. He was traded alongside pitcher Adrian Pinto. He will be set to be a free agent as of 2024.
Tapia has been known to change his batting stance. He usually takes an upright stance at the plate unless there are two strikes against him, in which case he crouches deeply and lowers his eye level by about five and three-quarter inches.
