Kirby Snead is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball. He was born on October 7, 1994, in the United States (MLB).
In 2021, he debuted in Major League Baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays.
In the birthplace of Alachua, Florida, Snead received his high school education in Santa Fe. After not being selected in the draft out of high school,
he went on to study at the University of Florida and subsequently played for the Florida Gators for three years. Snead made 32 appearances during his first year of college baseball,
compiling a record of 3–0 wins and 0 losses, posting a 2.40 earned run average (ERA), and striking out 22 batters in 4113 innings thrown.
Snead had a record of 1-0 with no losses in 28 games played during his sophomore season. He also had a 3.15 earned-run average, 33 strikeouts, and 341-3/3 innings worked.
During Snead’s last season with the Gators, he led the NCAA with 41 bullpen appearances and finished with a record of 3–1 with a 2.78 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 3523 innings pitched.
Snead was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the tenth round of the 2016 MLB draft. He signed with the Dunedin Blue Jays at the Advanced-A level and was given a $125,000 signing bonus.
On July 28, 2021, Snead made his Major League debut against the Boston Red Sox and retired both of his opponents. He had a 2.35 ERA, seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings and a 2.35 WHIP for the season.
