For Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson, the Nationals dealt Neuse in a blockbuster deal on July 16th, 2017, sending him to the Oakland Athletics alongside Jess Luzardo and Blake Treinen.
He was sent to the Stockton Ports by the Athletics and later promoted to the Midland RockHounds by the same organization.
He had a .321 batting average, 16 home runs, 79 RBIs, and an.884 OPS in 117 games between Hagerstown, Stockton, and Midland.
After the regular season, the Athletics designated Neuse for assignment to the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League. With five home runs and 23 RBIs in 22 games for the Solar Sox, he had a .314 average.
