Domingo Germán Polanco is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball. He was born on August 4, 1992, and is currently 29 years old. (MLB). In 2017, he made his MLB debut for the team against the Baltimore Orioles.
Germán was signed as an international free agent by the Florida Marlins in 2009. He made his professional debut with the Marlins of the Dominican Summer League in 2010. Germán pitched for the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2014, posting a 9–3 record and a 2.48 earned run average (ERA) with 113 strikeouts.
In July, he was selected and assigned to play in the All-Star Futures Game, where he struck out two batters. The Marlins traded Germán, Nathan Eovaldi, and Garrett Jones to the New York Yankees on December 19, 2014, for Martin Prado and David Phelps.
He missed the 2015 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and was released from the 40-man roster after the season but he was readded after he came back.
Germán was suspended for the first 63 games of 2020, totaling 81 games (including time served in 2019) for breaking the league’s personal conduct rules, the league’s toughest sanction for a player accused of domestic violence but not formally prosecuted.
Because the majority of his ban was served during the 2019 postseason, he was also eligible to return for the 2020 postseason.
