Clayton Walter Holmes is a pitcher with the New York Yankees of the Major League Baseball in the United States. He was born in Dothan, Alabama. In 2018, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
That year, Clay Holmes pitched 11 times for the Pirates, including four starts, finishing 1-3 with a 6.84 ERA. In 35 appearances for the Pirates in 2019, he was mainly a reliever, going 1-2 with a 5.58 ERA.
He lacked control, walking 36 batters in 50 innings while striking out 56. He pitched just one inning for the Bucs during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, spending the majority of the year at their alternate training location, and did not allow a run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings.
