Lucas Lester Luetge, born March 24, 1987, is an American Major League Baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees (MLB). He previously played for the Seattle Mariners in Major League Baseball. Luetge graduated from Bellville High School in Bellville, Texas, and went on to play college baseball for the Rice Owls.
Luetge was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 21st round of the 2008 MLB draft. Luetge played for the Brewers minor league affiliates for three and a half seasons, reaching Double-A with the Huntsville Stars in 2011.
Luetge signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels organization on November 17, 2015. Luetge was added to the Angels’ active roster on May 22, 2016, but he was designated for assignment on May 25 after making only one appearance for the big league club. He was outrighted to the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees on May 27, where he spent the rest of the season. Luetge chose free agency on October 3, 2016.
On November 25, 2019, Luetge signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics, with an invitation to major league spring training. Luetge did not play in a game in 2020 because the Minor League Baseball season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was added to the Athletics’ 60-man roster for the season, but he spent the entire year at the alternate location. On November 2, 2020, he became a free agent.
