David McKay is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Seattle Mariners, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, and Tampa Bay Rays.
Viera High School in Viera, Florida, is where McKay went to school and where he played baseball.
To play college baseball, he chose to attend Florida Atlantic University, where he was drafted in the 30th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft out of high school.
When McKay was a freshman, his season was cut short after just two games due to injury, and he was given a medical redshirt.
In 74.2 innings pitched as a redshirt sophomore, McKay was 3-6 with a 3.74 ERA, 66 strikeouts, and a.222 batting average against. KC Royals selected McKay in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB draft, 433rd overall.
