A third baseman with the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball, Joshua Adam Donaldson was born in the United States on December 8, 1985.
The Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, and Minnesota Twins were among his prior teams. He played collegiate baseball at Auburn University before being selected in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
With the Athletics, Donaldson made his Major League Baseball debut in 2010 as a catcher. He continued to play for the organization, ultimately moving to third base, and in the 2014 MLB season, he was named an All-Star.
A starter for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game, Donaldson received the most fan votes of any player after being traded to the Blue Jays and was chosen as the American League’s Most Valuable Player for the 2015 MLB season.
As the American League’s leader in both RBIs (runs batted in) and runs scored, Donaldson also took home the Silver Slugger Award. In August 2018, he was dealt to the Indians, and in November the same year, the Braves signed him as a free agent.
On January 14, 2020, Donaldson and the Minnesota Twins reached an agreement on a four-year contract following his productive season with the Braves in 2019.
