Anthony Rizzo is an American professional baseball first baseman for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs.
He has appeared in the All-Star game three times. Because of the work he does in the community, he is consistently considered a finalist for the Heart and Hustle award and is widely regarded as one of the most respected players in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Following his selection by the Boston Red Sox in the sixth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft, Rizzo quickly established himself as one of the organization’s most promising prospects in the minor leagues.
Following the conclusion of the 2010 campaign, the All-Star first baseman Adrián González was included in the deal that sent him and three other promising players to the San Diego Padres.
In 2011, he debuted in Major League Baseball with San Diego. After being traded to the Cubs in 2012, he went on to become an All-Star player. He participated in the All-Star Game for three years in a row, from 2014 to 2016, and won the Silver Slugger Award, the Gold Glove Award, and the Roberto Clemente Award.
Additionally, he helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016 by defeating the Cleveland Indians. During the 2021 season, the Cubs made the deal to send him to the Yankees.
