For the first time in American history, 17 people were killed and many more were injured in a school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018.
At the next day’s candlelight memorial for the victims, Rizzo was there to provide some consolation to the surviving.
The proceeds from a celebrity auction in support of the victims, which included the likes of Bill Murray, Charlie Sheen, Dennis Rodman, and Larry David, will be given to the victims before the Cubs’ season opener against the Miami Marlins on March 29th, when the Cubs take on the Marlins.

Against the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 28th, he made a forceful slide towards home plate in an attempt to break up a possible double play. It was a contentious play.
To make matters worse, he hooked Elias Diaz’s leg on his way to first base, forcing the catcher to make a poor throw that allowed two more runs to score.
