Chris Archer Children: Does Chris Archer Have Any Kids?

After being traded between two clubs, Chris Archer made it to the major leagues in 2012 with the Tampa Bay Rays. He has been an American League All-Star thrice.

The Cleveland Indians selected Chris in the fifth round of the 2006 amateur draft, and scout Bob Mayer signed him.

 

The following three picks, David Herndon, Dustin Richardson, and George Kontos, were all pitchers who went on to play in the major leagues.

He played for the GCL Indians (0-3, 7.45, 17 walks in 19 1/3 innings) and Burlington Indians (2 R in 1 2/3 innings) in his first professional summer.

He suffered abuse from the Lake County Captains (1-7, 5.64) and GCL Indians in 2007. (4 R in 4 innings).

With nine wild pitches, he tied for 7th place in the Gulf Coast League and shared the GCL loss lead with Gregorio Rosario and Aaron Furhman.

The kid pitched for Lake County in 2008, going 4-8 with a 4.29 ERA, 84 walks, and 18 wild throws in 115 1/3 innings.

He had the most walks in the South Atlantic League and had the third-most wild pitches, trailing only Maikel Cleto and Michael Felix.

He was traded to the Chicago Cubs for pitchers Mark DeRosa after the season along with John Gaub and Jeff Stevens.

With the 2009 Peoria Chiefs, Archer made good strides, going 6-4 with a 2.81 ERA. In 109 innings, he still managed 66 walks, 10 wild pitches, 119 strikeouts, and an opponent average of .202.

All year long, he did not allow a home run. He shared second place in the Midwest League in free throws with Tyler Chatwood, trailing only Evan Frederickson.

Between James Darnell and Kyle Russell, he received the #16 MWL prospect ranking from Baseball America.
