José Alberto Godoy is a Venezuelan Major League Baseball catcher who currently plays for the Minnesota Twins. Godoy played for the Seattle Mariners before joining the Minnesota Twins. In 2011, he was signed as an international free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals.
During the 2014 season, Godoy split between the High-A Palm Beach Cardinals and the Rookie-level Johnson City Cardinals, batting .320/.411/.377 in 122 at-bats.
He batted .230/.331/.310 in 2015 while playing for both Palm Beach and the Low-A State College Spikes. He played for the Double-A Springfield Cardinals and Single-A Peoria Chiefs in 2016, hitting .295/.373/.344 with a home run and a career-high 31 RBI.
During his time in Palm Beach in 2017, he hit .265/.317/.374, setting career highs in home runs and RBI (41).
He played 77 games in 2018, splitting his time between Palm Beach and Springfield, batting .281/.368/.360.
Godoy re-signed with the Cardinals on November 19, 2018, under a new minor league contract that came with a Spring Training invitation. He was sent to Springfield after failing to join the team.
Godoy made his debut in Triple-A in 2019 with the Memphis Redbirds, playing parts of the season in both Memphis and Springfield. He hit.276/.354/.431 with 7 home runs and 42 RBI. He received a Spring Training invitation for the 2020 campaign.
Due to the minor league season being postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Godoy did not participate in any games.
He was included in the 60-man player pool for the 2020 Cardinals but did not play for the team. Godoy chose free agency on November 2, 2020.
