Gary Sanchez, full name Gary Sánchez Herrera is one of the professional baseball players currently with the Minnesota Twins baseball team. He is from Dominican Republic and plays as a catcher for the Twins.
He was born on December 2, 1992 in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. He played baseball growing up in his country. In 2009, he signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent. After signing with them, he was given a signing bonus of $3 million. He began playing professional baseball in 2010 and prior to that, Baseball America ranked him as the Yankees’ seventh-best prospect.
That year, he played for the Gulf Coast Yankees and was promoted during the season to the Staten Island Yankees of the Class A-Short Season New York–Penn League. In 2011, he was assigned to play for the Charleston RiverDogs of the Class A South Atlantic League. The Yankees selected his contract and called him up to the major leagues in 2015.
He made his MLB debut in October 2015 for the Yankees. The Minnesota Twins purchased his contract in March 2022 from the New York Yankees.
