Byron Buxton, full name Byron Kerion Buxton is one of the professional baseball players with the Minnesota Twins baseball team. He was born on December 18, 1993, in Baxley, Georgia in the United States of America.
Byron began playing baseball at a very young age. He played baseball in high school at Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia. After high school, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins as the second overall pick in the 2012 MLB draft. He signed with them and received a $6 million signing bonus.
He started his professional career that year with the Gulf Coast Twins of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. He was promoted during the season to the Elizabethton Twins of the Rookie-level Appalachian League. During the 2013 minor league season, the Twins assigned him to the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Class A Midwest League.
In 2015, he played with the Twins’ new Class AA affiliate which is the Chattanooga Lookouts of the Southern League. He was called up to the major leagues for the first time in June 2015 and on June 14 he made his MLB debut for the team. He signed a seven-year contract extension in December 2021 with twins. The contract was worth $100 million.
