The first season of the Squid game TV series was released on Netflix on September 17, 2021. It became Netflix’s most-watched series after its release and also become the top-viewed program in over 90 countries.
The series earned several awards including the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series and also the outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for Lee Jung-Jae and HoYeon Jung.
During an interview with the creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, he revealed how it was initially rejected and according to him, “People were telling me that it’s too unrealistic,”
He said at some point, he put the script away and concentrated on other projects he was doing including directing the acclaimed The Crucible, Miss Granny and The Fortress. In 2018, Hwang picked up the squid game script again and this time around, he was determined to make it realistic.
Thankfully, after 12 years he was able to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life. Is There a Season 2 of Squid Game?
There is going to be a season 2 of Squid Game but no specific date has been given though it has been fixed to be broadcast either by the end of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024.
