In 2013, Tellez was named to the Baseball America and Rawlings First Team High School All-American squads. He was chosen by the Blue Jays in the 30th round of the 2013 MLB draft.
Tellez was named to the Arizona Fall League All-Prospect Team in 2015, as well as an AFL Rising Star and a Midwest League All-Star. In 1913, he became the first player in major league history to hit seven doubles in his first seven games.
Tellez, who began his professional career with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays in 2013, was an All-American at Elk Grove High School.
He was chosen by the Blue Jays in the 30th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. Baseball America ranked Tellez as the 59th best player in the draft.
Tellez made his Major League debut with the Blue Jays on September 5, 2018. He doubled on the first pitch he saw in his debut at-bat as a pinch hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Meet Greg Tellez and Lori Tellez
Greg Tellez and Lori Tellez are known to be the famed parents of Rowdy Tellez. Greg, his father, has been a huge aid in his training and nurture.
“He went above and above for me. He’s always been there for me and has done anything baseball-related with me for as long as I can remember. First and foremost, coach.” Rowdy made the announcement in a statement.
His mother, on the other hand, died several years ago. Rowdy’s MLB debut came just two weeks after his mother Lori passed away from brain cancer after a two-year battle.
