Cody Poteet is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Poteet was taken by the Miami Marlins in the fourth round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft after completing his junior year in high school.
After signing with the Marlins for the sum of $488,700, he was sent to the Batavia Muckdogs of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League, where he worked for a total of 12 2/3 innings and recorded an earned run average of 2.13.
In 2016, he pitched for the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A South Atlantic League. He started 24 games for the team and finished with a record of 4–9 and an earned run average of 2.91.
In 2017, he pitched for the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League. He participated in 16 games that year, making 14 starts, and compiled a record of 3–7 with a 4.16 earned run average. This performance earned him All-Star honors.
In 2018, he pitched for both the Jupiter Marlins and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp of the Class AA Southern League. Between the two clubs, he participated in a total of 26 games and made 25 starts, compiling a record of 4–15 with a 4.98 earned run average.
