Nicholas Fortes is an American Major League Baseball catcher for the Miami Marlins. He made his Major League Baseball debut with the Marlins in 2021.
Fortes went to school at DeLand High School in DeLand, Florida.
He attended the University of Mississippi and played college baseball for the Rebels after being undrafted out of high school.
As a junior at Ole Miss, Fortes batted .319/.435/.519 with 11 home runs and 49 RBIs.With his excellent achievements in the draft, he was picked in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins.
In 2018, he divided the season between the GCL Marlins, Batavia Muckdogs, and Greensboro Grasshoppers, hitting .226/.346/.258, with no home runs and 11 RBIs. In 2019, he hit .217/.293/.308 with three home runs and 29 RBIs for the Jupiter Hammerheads.
Due to the Minor League Baseball season being postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he did not play any games.
He played for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the minor leagues in 2021, batting a combined .245/.332/.367 with seven home runs and 44 RBIs.
