Jerar used to play as an amateur in Dominican Republic parks. The Marlins discovered him by chance when they were scouting other players and decided to sign him. They signed him as an international free agent in 2015. He was given a signing bonus of $78,000.

Jerar started playing professional baseball after he was signed and assigned to play for the Dominican Summer League Marlins in 2016. The Marlins made him spend the entire 2017 minor league season with the Gulf Coast Marlins. He played with the Batavia Muckdogs and the Greensboro Grasshoppers in the 2018 season.
