Davis Daniel is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Los Angeles Angels organization. In Montgomery, Alabama, Daniel attended Saint James School. North Carolina State University was his first choice for collegiate baseball, but he eventually transferred to Auburn University.
In his senior year in 2016, over seventy innings, he was 11-1 with a 0.70 earned run average and 137 strikeouts. Not only did he not sign with any MLB team, but he instead chose to attend Auburn University after being drafted in the 34th round in 2016.
At Auburn, Daniel played in 17 games (starting 16 of them) as a freshman in 2017, going 4-3 with a 5.89 ERA in 70 13 innings of work.
The following year, he threw 66+23 innings, striking out 71 batters and posting a 4.86 earned run average. A year after the season ended, the Milwaukee Brewers drafted him as an undrafted free agent in the 11th round of the 2018 MLB draft.
This summer, he was a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Chatham Anglers. After starting for Auburn on opening night as a junior in 2019, Daniel was removed after only two innings due to an arm injury that necessitated Tommy John surgery and forced him to miss the rest of the season.
