He was born on January 4, 1990, in a town called Isla de la Juventud in Cuba. Raisel began his baseball journey at a young age. He played for the Isla de la Juventud baseball team in the Cuban National Series and also played for the Cuban national baseball team.

Raisel also played in the 2013 World Baseball Classic and 2013 World Port Tournament. That year, he wanted to defect from Cuba but was detained. He was later on allowed to go and he went to Haiti. In June 2014, the Cincinnati Reds signed him into their organisation. They signed him to a seven-year contract worth $27 million.

The Reds called him up to the major leagues in April 2015 and he made his MLB debut for the Reds on April 12 2015. After 6 years of playing for the Reds, they traded him in December 2020 to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Angels named him in 2021 as the American League Reliever for July.  He resigned with the Angels on a four-year contract worth $58 million in December 2021.
