Jimmy Matthew Herget is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels. Herget once played for the Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball.
Herget made his professional debut with the Billings Mustangs in 2015, where he went 3-0 with a 3.20 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 25+ innings.
He pitched for the Daytona Tortugas in 2016, compiling a 4-4 record, 1.78 ERA, and 83 strikeouts in 60+23 innings. In 2017, he also pitched for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and the Louisville Bats, with a 4-4 record with a 2.90 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 62 innings.
He played for the Reds in the 2017 All-Star Futures Game. Herget returned to Louisville in 2018, finishing 1-3 with a 3.47 ERA and 65 strikeouts in 59+23 innings.
After the 2018 season, the Reds added Herget to their 40-man roster. In 2019, he returned to Louisville and finished 3-4 with a 2.91 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 58+23 innings.
The Reds promoted Herget to the major leagues on July 1, 2019. On July 7, he made his debut, surrendering three runs in 23 innings thrown. In 2019, he pitched 6.1 innings for the Reds with a 4.26 ERA. On November 25, 2019, Herget was designated for assignment.
