Despite his age, Iglesias is considered one of the top closers in baseball, with a 2.57 ERA, 103 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 70 innings for the Los Angeles Angels last year. Iglesias didn’t make the All-Star team, but he finished 11th in the Cy Young Award voting.
After the season, Iglesias said he had approximately 20 teams interested in him, and he thought that eight or nine teams were still interested once the Angels started talking.
When asked about his desire to return to the Angels, Iglesias replied he has always wanted to do so.
During the interview, Iglesias added, “I always informed my agent that the Angels were the primary priority.” “This team has a lot of synergy,” said one player. In order to assist the squad win, “I’m here and ready to take the next step.”
When asked about his summer activities, Iglesias, who signed his contract soon before the lockout began, said he trained as usual because he was in Miami.
The fact that he was so successful last year and has done so for the majority of his career means that he has no intention of altering his approach substantially in 2019.
Iglesias stated, “I haven’t changed anything with my stuff.” “My mindset hasn’t changed. Having 40 saves a year is my ultimate goal.”
