He was born on November 9, 1995. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Miami Marlins. On September 9, 2013, the Miami Marlins made Quijada a member of their team after signing him as an international free agent.
It was in 2014 that he made his debut in the professional ranks with the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League Marlins. He played for two different teams during the 2016 season: the Class A Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Class A-Advanced Jupiter Hammerheads.
