Chris Rodriguez is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB).
In Miami Gardens, Florida, Rodriguez received his secondary education from Monsignor Edward Pace High School. In the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft, the Los Angeles Angels selected him in the fourth round of the draft.
Because of his back injury, he was sidelined for the entirety of 2018 and for the better part of 2019. The pandemic that caused the cancellation of the minor league season in 2020 was COVID-19. As a result, he did not participate in any minor league games that year.
After the conclusion of the 2020 campaign, the Angels included Rodriguez on their 40-man roster.
Rodriguez made his major league baseball (MLB) debut in relief against the Chicago White Sox on April 2, 2021. He pitched two innings and struck out three batters in the game.
As a result of shoulder inflammation, he was placed on the injured reserve on May 6, and his status was upgraded to 10-days.
How Good Is Chris Rodriguez?
As of the start of the 2021 season, Chris Rodriguez was the Angels farm system’s sixth-best prospect.
For the past three seasons, the right-hander has been sidelined by injury, with the exception of three starts in 2019 with the High-A Inland Empire 66ers before undergoing back surgery that will keep him out of the game for the rest of his career.
When Rodriguez finally returned to the mound after a long recuperation and was able to throw without any pain, he sparkled in Spring Training, striking out 10 batters in eight innings and reaching 98 mph on many occasions.
