Marsh received his diploma from Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. batted.559 as a senior while also collecting 25 RBIs, 19 stolen bases, four home runs, and a 1.545 OPS.
He made a baseball commitment to Kennesaw State University. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the second round of the 2016 MLB draft and he signed with them for $1 million.
Due to an asymptomatic lower-back injury that put him on the 60-day injured list, Marsh was unable to participate in 2016. In 39 games, he batted.350 with four home runs, 44 RBIs, ten stolen bases, and a.944 OPS while playing for the Orem Owlz, where he made his professional debut in 2017.
