Bryan Enrique Abreu is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Major League Baseball Houston Astros. In July 2019, Abreu made his major league debut.
Abreu signed as an international free agent with the Houston Astros in November 2013. In his professional debut with the Dominican Summer League Astros in 2014, he went 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA in 22 bullpen innings.
In 2015, he returned to the DSL and pitched to a 2-2 record with a 3.83 ERA in 14 games (ten starts). He began the 2016 season with the Greeneville Astros before being transferred to the Gulf Coast League Astros. He finished 2-5 with a 4.89 ERA in 38.2 innings.
In 2017, he went 1-3 with a 7.98 ERA in eight games (six starts) for Greeneville, while in 2018, he pitched for both the Tri-City ValleyCats and the Quad Cities River Bandits, going 6-1 with a 1.49 ERA in 14 games (seven starts).
After the 2018 season, the Astros added Abreu to their 40-man roster. He began the 2019 season with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers before being promoted to the Corpus Christi Hooks, where he was named a Texas League All-Star.
The Astros promoted Abreu to the major leagues on July 31, 2019. That night, he made his major league debut, tossing a scoreless inning in relief.
He was optioned back to Double-A Corpus Christi the next day. Abreu struggled with accuracy in 2020, walking seven hitters and striking out two in 3.1 innings before being optioned off the squad.
