Jacob Todd Odorizzi is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Houston Astros.

was drafted 32nd overall in the first round of the 2008 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2012, he made his MLB debut.

He formerly played for the Royals of Kansas City, Rays of Tampa Bay, and Twins of Minnesota.



Odorizzi went to Highland High School in Highland, Illinois, where he was a member of the Highland Bulldogs’ state championship team.

Odorizzi was drafted 32nd overall in the first round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the Milwaukee Brewers system, he had a 9–9 record, a 3.68 earned run average (ERA), and 197 strikeouts.

He was a member of the Arizona Brewers (2008), Helena Brewers (2009), and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (2010).

The Brewers traded Odorizzi, Alcides Escobar, Jeremy Jeffress, and Lorenzo Cain to the Royals on December 17, 2010, in exchange for Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt.

Prior to the 2011 season, Baseball America ranked Odorizzi as the 69th greatest prospect in baseball, and the 23rd top prospect at midseason.

He was considered the fifth-greatest prospect in the Double-A Texas League after the 2011 season. He was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game in 2012.

In 2012, Odorizzi split time between the Royals’ Double-A affiliate Northwest Arkansas Naturals and the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers, going 15–5 with a 3.03 ERA.

The Royals bought Odorizzi’s contract from Class AAA Omaha on September 16, 2012. Before the season ended, he made two starts for the team.
