Jhoulys Jose Chacin Molina is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies (MLB).
He has previously played for the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, and Atlanta Braves, among others.
He throws and bats right-handed, measuring 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) and weighing 215 pounds (98 kg).
Prior to 2009 and 2010, Chacin was regarded as one of the top prospects for the Colorado Rockies after signing as an international free agent in 2004.
On July 24, 2009, Chacin was promoted from Double-A Tulsa Drillers to the major leagues. Chacin got 9 wins, a 3.28 ERA, and led all NL rookies in strikeouts with 138 in his first full season in MLB with the Colorado Rockies in 2010.
Chacin began the 2011 season as one of baseball’s greatest rookie pitchers, but his mechanics proved unreliable in the second half.
In 31 starts, he did manage an 11–14 record and a 3.62 ERA. He struck out 150 batters in 194 innings on the mound. With 87 walks, he did, however, lead the National League.
On April 15, 2011, he threw his first career shutout and completed his first professional game. Due to a pectoral injury in 2012, Chacin only made 14 starts.
