Tampa Bay Rays pitcher lex Colomé was an All-Star in the American League in 2017 after leading the league in saves. He is Jess Colome’s nephew.
Eddy Toledo, a scout with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, signed lex in March 2007. With the DSL Devil Rays, he went 1-6 with a 2.97 ERA in his first professional appearance.
However, he walked 31 and threw 16 wild pitches, which tied him for sixth in the DSL.
In 2008, when pitching for the Princeton Rays, he went 0-5, 6.80, despite striking out 52 batters in 46 1/3 innings and displaying improved control (26 walks, 6 wild pitched).

When it came to victories, he was seventh in the New York-Penn League, while leading the league in strikeouts (11 more than the runner-up, Marty Popham) and the ERA (behind Jose Alvarez).
Baseball America has him ranked as the 8th best prospect in the Tampa Bay organization, and the NYPL’s second-best prospect, after Ryan Westmoreland.
For the 2010 Bowling Green Hot Rods, the Dominican right-hander was 6-6 with a 3.95 ERA (118 strikeouts in 114 innings) and allowed just one run in four innings for the Charlotte Stone Crabs.
Between Rubby de la Rosa and Chris Owings, he was ranked as Baseball America’s 16th top prospect in the Midwest League and 9th best prospect in the Tampa Bay organization.
