Andrew Jacob Puk is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball.
Puk was born on April 25, 1995, in the United States (MLB). He was a member of the Florida Gators baseball team throughout his time in college.
Puk received their secondary education at the Washington High School located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In baseball, he played first base and pitched, and in football, he was a quarterback. In total, he was a three-sport athlete.
The Detroit Tigers selected him in the 35th round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2013, however, he opted not to sign with them and instead played collegiate baseball for the University of Florida instead.
Puk made an appearance in 19 games for Florida as a freshman and started seven of those games. He finished with a record of 5–2 wins and 2 losses, a career-best earned run average (ERA) of 3.35, 44 strikeouts, and one save.
After climbing a crane within a recognized work site on the University of Florida campus in April 2015, Puk and a teammate were both arrested and charged with third-degree criminal trespass.
This is the highest level of trespassing that can be committed. After some time had passed, the charge was downgraded to a lesser infraction, and he was placed on temporary suspension.
After serving his sentence, Puk was able to return to play for the Gators and contribute to their run to the College World Series in 2015.
