Atlanta Falcons cornerback A. J. Terrell plays in the National Football League. He is 1.85 meters tall and weighs 88 kilos. He attended Westlake High School, where he played cornerback and wide receiver. He committed to playing collegiate football at Clemson University for the Clemson Tigers. As a true freshman at Clemson in 2017, he played in 14 games and recorded 15 tackles in addition to one interception.
As a sophomore, he made all 15 starts and finished with 53 tackles, three interceptions, and a score. For his junior year, he returned in 2019 as a starter. After his junior year, he was chosen for the All-ACC first team. Terrell was taken by the Atlanta Falcons with the 16th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
In addition to the $7.96 million signing bonus, he signed a four-year, $14.31 million contract with the Falcons in July 2020 that was fully guaranteed. He tested positive for the virus on September 26, 2020, which was before week 3 and resulted in placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list. As of October 2020, he is operational. In Week 14 of the 2021 season, he helped make an interception in a 29-21 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 82.7, placing him second among cornerbacks who met the requirements in 2021. He was chosen for the second team of the All-Pros in January 2022, and this grade placed him second among those cornerbacks.
