Aaron James Civale (born June 12, 1995) is a Major League Baseball pitcher who pitches for the Cleveland Guardians.

Civale signed with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and pitched 13 innings for them in 2016, going 0–2 with a 1.67 ERA and 0.82 WHIP.

He pitched for the Lake County Captains and Lynchburg Hillcats in 2017, going 13–6 with a 3.28 ERA in 27 total starts between the two clubs, and for the Akron RubberDucks in 2018, he went 5-7 with a 3.89 ERA in 21 starts.

To start 2019, he returned to Akron. The Columbus Clippers promoted Civale on June 6.

Prior to getting called up, he was 5–0 with a 2.85 ERA in seven starts between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus.

Civale was promoted to the big leagues for the first time on June 21, 2019.

He won his first game 2–0 when Brad Hand rescued his 22nd game by pitching 6 innings with 6 strikeouts against the Detroit Tigers.

In each of his first six career starts as a starter, he became the 10th Major League pitcher (and the first for the Indians) to throw at least 5+23 innings while allowing no more than two runs.

He has a 4.74 ERA in 2020, going 4–6. He had the best batting average against in the American League (82) and the most hits allowed (82).

Civale was put on the disabled list on June 23, 2021, due to a strain on his middle finger. Civale led the MLB in victories with 10 at the time of his assignment.

Civale was placed on the injured reserve list on July 26. Civale returned in September, pitching six shutout innings against the Texas Rangers in Cleveland’s last game as the Indians.

He was 12–5 with a 3.84 ERA in 21 starts during the 2021 season.
