Cheyenne Nicole Woods is a professional golfer from the United States who was born on July 25, 1990. Woods was born in the Arizona city of Phoenix.
She is the daughter of Susan Woods and Earl Dennison Woods Jr., the half-brother of golfer Tiger Woods, making Cheyenne Tiger’s half-niece. Her paternal grandfather, Earl Woods (Tiger’s father), was her first coach and motivation.
Woods revealed in an interview with Golf Digest that her mother was white and her father was African American, with some Native American and Asian ancestry.
In addition to playing golf for the Demon Deacons, she graduated from Wake Forest University in 2012. She has triumphed in more than 30 amateur competitions.
She participated in the Wegmans LPGA in 2009 thanks to a sponsor’s exemption. By four strokes, she missed the cut.
Woods joined the Ladies European Tour in 2013 and placed 78th on the Order of Merit. At the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters in 2014, Woods earned her second professional victory (and first on a significant tour).
Woods earned Category 12 membership in December 2014 after placing T-11th in the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. This let her compete in most full-field competitions aside from the more prominent ones.
She only made eight cuts in the 2015 season and had to go through qualifying once more. In the Final Qualifying Tournament, she tied for thirteenth place, earning a spot on the LPGA circuit for 2016.
