He formerly played for the St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).

He joined the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball on April 20, 2016. García represented Cuba in the Pan American Games squad in 2015. García escaped from Cuba in 2016.



He signed a non-roster invitation to spring training with the St. Louis Cardinals in February 2017. In 2017, he played for the Springfield Cardinals of the Class AA Texas League and the Memphis Redbirds of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, recording a combined.290 batting average with 15 home runs and 65 runs batted in.

García began the 2018 season with the Memphis Grizzlies. On August 6, he was promoted to the major leagues by the Cardinals. He hit in 112 games for Memphis. 256 with 22 home runs, 71 RBIs, and ten stolen bases, while he hit.118 in 21 games for St. Louis. On December 18, 2019, García was designated for assignment.
