Adrian Morejón Garcia (born February 27, 1999) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the San Diego Padres. In 2019, he made his Major League Baseball debut.
Morejón was voted the tournament’s most valuable player in the 2014 15U Baseball World Cup. That year, he represented Mayabeque in the Cuban National Series. In October 2015, he left Cuba.
Morejón signed an $11 million contract with the San Diego Padres in July 2016. In 2017, he made his professional debut with the Tri-City Dust Devils and the Fort Wayne TinCaps, earning a combined 3–4 win-loss record with a 3.86 earned run average (ERA) in 13 starts for both teams.
In 13 starts with the Lake Elsinore Storm in 2018, he went 4–4 with a 3.30 ERA.
He started the year out with the Amarillo Sod Poodles. Morejón was selected for the All-Star Futures Game in 2019.
The Padres picked Morejón’s contract and promoted him to the big leagues on July 21, 2019. On that day, he made his major league debut against the Chicago Cubs. Morejón had a 2–2 record and 4.66 ERA in nine games in 2020, striking out 25 batters in 19.1 innings (4 starts).
Morejón was forced to leave a start against the Texas Rangers on April 11, 2021, because of a left forearm discomfort. Morejón underwent Tommy John surgery on April 20 and will miss the rest of the 2021 season. Morejón was put on the 60-day injury list on April 23.
