Albert Abreu is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the New York Yankees.

In August 2013, Abreu was signed as an international free agent by the Houston Astros.

Since then he has played with the Dominican Summer League Astros, where he has an impressive 3–2 record and an impressive 2.78 earned run average (ERA).

This past season, he pitched for the Greeneville Astros, going 2–3, 3.50 in three appearances, and then the Quad Cities River Bandits, going 1–0, with a 5.40 ERA in three outings. He was then promoted to the Lancaster JetHawks, where he ended up pitching in three more games.

The Astros dealt Jose Abreu and Jorge Guzmán to the New York Yankees on November 17, 2016, in exchange for Brian McCann.

In 2017, he pitched for the Charleston RiverDogs, Tampa Yankees, and GCL Yankees, going 2–3 with a 3.38 ERA in 53.1 innings.

After the 2017 season, the Yankees added him to their 40-man roster. His MLB debut will take place on August 8, 2020.

Abreu and Ahlstrom were traded to the Texas Rangers on April 2, 2022, for catcher Jose Trevino.
