Infielder Alcides Escobar is a native of Venezuela and now plays for the Washington Nationals in Major League Baseball. His past teams in Major League Baseball were the Milwaukee Brewers and the Kansas City Royals.



In Nippon Professional Baseball, he played for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. Escobar started playing baseball when he was four years old. He has stated that he looked up to fellow Venezuelan shortstop Omar Vizquel throughout his formative years.

Eduardo Escobar became a member of the Milwaukee Brewers’ organization as an international free agent on July 9, 2003. The deal was for $35,000.



In 2004, Escobar made his debut in the professional ranks by playing for the Helena Brewers at rookie level. The Milwaukee Brewers made a deal with the Kansas City Royals on December 18, 2010, to send Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, Jeremy Jeffress, and Jake Odorizzi to the Royals in exchange for Zack Greinke and Yuniesky Betancourt.
