Alex Bregman Parents: Meet Sam Bregman and Jackie Bregman

Bregman grew up in the Northeast Heights neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a devout Jew who grew up in Albuquerque’s Congregation Albert.

“I want to be a professional athlete who plays for the love of the game, never quits trying to give my best, and is a good role model for all of the kids who look up to baseball players,” he said in his Bar Mitzvah speech when he was 13–a head shorter than his 5-foot-4-inch (1.63 m) mother at the time

Meet Sam Bregman and Jackie Bregman

Samuel Bregman and Jackie Bregman, his father, and mother, met in law school and are both lawyers. Sam Bregman was also the chair of the New Mexico Democratic Party.

Sam Bregman and Jackie Bregman have two other children besides Alex.

Sam Bregman was a freshman baseball player for the University of New Mexico Lobos in 1982, the same team for whom his brother Ben Bregman also played; they both moved to Albuquerque on baseball scholarships.

Since 2006, hiSam Bregman has been a part-owner of the NBA Development League’s New Mexico Thunderbirds.

During her son’s early years of baseball, Jackie Bregman would regularly pitch to him at their home in New Mexico. After Alex, then a 10-year-old, hit a ball up the middle during batting practice, the sessions with real baseballs were over.
Alex Bregman frequently expresses gratitude to his parents for their guidance and support, both on and off the pitch.

They’re the source of his philanthropic drive and his ability to communicate and lead in the Astros’ clubhouse thanks to his fluency in Spanish.
