In the National Football League, Alex Erickson is a wide receiver and return specialist for the Washington Commanders. He is 1.83 meters tall and 88 kilograms in weight. He played high school football there while attending Darlington High School. He amassed 3,856 rushing yards and 57 rushing touchdowns by the end of his high school career, 3,648 passing yards and 37 passing touchdowns, 170 tackles, and 14 interceptions.

When he was a senior, he was selected to participate in the WFCA All-Star game, and the Wisconsin State Journal awarded him the Small School Player of the Year. After accumulating 2,489 total offensive yards, he was selected as a defensive back for the first team all-state squad and a quarterback for the first team all-conference team.

At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he participated in NCAA football for the Wisconsin Badgers. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business management from Wisconsin in December 2015. 2016 saw Erickson sign as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals. In October 2019, he recorded his first game with 100+ receiving yards. He recorded 43 receptions for 529 receiving yards before the end of the 2019 season.

On May 4, 2022, Erickson signed a contract with the Washington Commanders. On August 30, 2022, he was released, and the following day, he was added to the practice squad.
