Amir Garrett Parents: Meet Darrow Garrett and Tia George

Amir Garrett is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Cincinnati Reds.



Aside from being known as a baseball player, Garrett played college basketball. He committed to play collegiate basketball for the St. John’s Red Storm men’s basketball team at St. John’s University in New York.

During the 2011–12 college basketball season, Garrett was deemed unable to play due to academic problems for the autumn semester.



As an alternative, he spent the autumn semester in Bridgton, Maine at Bridgton Academy, where he played baseball. His candidacy was officially recognized. Garrett averaged 26.7 minutes per game as a freshman.

As a member of the Billings Mustangs and the Arizona Reds, Garrett compiled a 4.05 earned run average (ERA) with 18 strikeouts and 13 walks in 20 innings of work in the Rookie Leagues.

Garrett started 11 games as a sophomore, averaging 5.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 20.1 minutes per game. He also grabbed 4.3 rebounds per game.

Garret announced his departure from St. John’s after the 2012–13 college basketball season, with the goal of joining an unnamed other teams.
