Andrés Alfonso Giménez Osorio was born in Venezuela on September 4, 1998, and now plays shortstop for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball.

He is a professional baseball player (MLB). In 2020, he made his first appearance in Major League Baseball with the New York Mets.

In July of 2015, the New York Mets chose to take a chance on an international free agent and signed Gonzalo Giménez. He made his debut in the professional ranks with the Dominican Summer League Mets in 2016, and he played with the Columbia Fireflies during the entirety of 2017.

In 2018, he split his time between the St. Lucie Mets and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, playing a total of 122 games for both teams.

Giménez, Amed Rosario, Josh Wolf, and Isaiah Greene were sent to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco on January 7, 2021.

The deal took place between the Mets and the Indians. On the first day of the season, Giménez started at shortstop for the squad.  Giménez had a rough start to the season and was sent down to Triple-A on May 18 as a result of his play.
